Returning to Nicaragua, we are excited to showcase a stunning Maracaturra from the Solidaridad Cooperative which came second place in the 2025 Cup of Excellence.
Our first Maracaturra on offer - a hybrid varietal crossed from a Caturra (known for its productivity and balanced flavour) and Maragogype (a Typica mutation, lively in acidity. It’s a big bean!) - we were pleasantly surprised by the lively acidity that was well structured by its deep sweetness and clean finish.
All this is the beauty of Jose Ramon’s family farm, which began in 1994 and filled with catimors before intentional generation to include Catuais, Java and new varietals such as maracaturras which balances resistance and quality.
